Design

Design in communication, or communication design, is a broad creative process that operates in message construction. As in many other arts, it does not have a set methodology. It acts in what has begun by being a field study and commercial artwork. And, responding to social and technological advances, it encompasses several communication tools and means.

Nowadays, communication design is a discipline with strong connections to video, music, graphic design, advertising, editorial work, web design, and wording. And, unlike other creative processes, it often depends on the utterances. It comes close to marketing skills, but it does not select twentieth-century corporatism as the tonic for its development. Ideally, its focus is on the creative action in order to, inside this action, collect the ideas that reinstall and reshape the problems. Then, we can turn to their resolution.

Communication design is an activity that aims to communicate an image. This image is edited through the articulation between a visual grammar and the content it intends to distribute, generating a context for clear comprehension, both expressive and symbolic, allowing for the stimulation of different interpretations of the same message.

It contextualizes projects and develops ideas; it generates reactions and sensations, taking into account functional and production factors; it generates a coherent visual culture between thought, feeling, and action; it creates languages and visual codes based upon cultural identity; and it makes the visual landscape more rich and more harmonic.
